A Dark Light
exhibited as part of Reykjavik's WInter Lights Festival celebrations

Bristol based artists Kathryn Thomas, Tamany Baker and Simon Whetham visited Iceland in December 2005 to experience the near perpetual darkness and harsh temperatures of the Icelandic winter.

Kathryn and Tamany were also intrigued to discover how this time of year compared to twenty four hour daylight, experienced during their previous visit in the summer of 2003, which produced the body of work 'New Light'.

The journeys resulted in the collaboration 'A Dark Light', and comprising the artforms of painting, photography and sound, which was exhibited in the Lake Hall of Reykjavik City Hall, Iceland from 22nd February until 1st March 2007.
